I believe my 13 year old son is anorexic.
He began to lose weight and i thought it was puberty and a growth spurt
Came to realize he was giving away his lunch/snacks at school.
I took quick measures. Removed scale, called a dietician who created a meal plan and saw his dr. , found a therapist. a referral to ed clinic at a local hospital has been made but they won t see us until Sept. All of these changes increased his anxiety and his behaviours changed. We recently started seeing a therapist but his mood changes from i want to get better to I don t want anything to change. My mood changes from sadness to anger. Even though i know he is not choosing this i feel anger that he is not taling control for putting himself in danger and for the havoc it is causing to the family. My husband and I are struggling in agreeing with our approach.
We need help

Hello Momwith13yroldson, sounds like you're having a rough time of it. I think that it's really good that you recognized the signs early on and fully committed yourself to your son - it really shows just how much you care about him. Sorry to hear that its going to be so long before he gets to be seen at the clinic.

If he hasn't already, it might be a good idea to try to find out what the root/cause of the ED behaviour might have been.

NEDA has a plethora of different resources. One of those that you might find useful is the parent toolkit:

NEDA also has a helpline that's open during weekdays: 1-800-931-2237

I hope that helps a little.
