Trying to start.

I think I suffer from some kind of eating disorder. I am a wrestler and this year in the middle of the season I would start to get these cravings that would cause me to binge eat a lot. It would get incredibly difficult to make weight as well. When the season ended, these eating problems persisted. I overeat all the time and have begun to throw up as well. I feel hopeless. Some weeks I am able to maintain self control and eat healthy but I always mess up on the weekends, where I have to work at my parent's restaurant where i overeat secretly. I am having a really bad week with it right now and feel so desecrate, like nobody cares and that all I have is myself to help me. I have put on a lot of weight since winter too. What do I do????

Hi andrewc773,

Welcome to the NEDA Forums! We're glad you reached out here. Please know that you aren't alone; many people here on the forums can relate to what you're going through. It sounds like your thoughts and behaviors related to food and weight are really interfering with your life and are distressing to you. It can be really helpful to reach out to family or friends, or maybe even to an adult at your school (e.g., coach, counselor) to express what you've been going through. If you reach out, you can start to find out more about what options are available to you. It can be really useful to talk with a therapist, join a support group, or seek some other kind of treatment. The NEDA Helpline can be a great starting point. You can call or chat online with them: . Here are some other links from the NEDA site that might be useful for you:

I hope this is helpful! It's so great that you're taking this first step. Please know that recovery is possible, and that you don't have to go through this alone! We're here for you anytime you need support. Keep us updated on how things are going! We wish you the best.
