World-Renowned Supermodel Emme Joins Roster of Ambassadors for the National Eating Disorders Association

NEW YORK CITY  — February 7, 2019  The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders, announced the appointment of full-figured supermodel and TV personality Emme as its newest NEDA Ambassador.

“Not only has NEDA greatly improved my life,  thanks to its leadership, members, doctors, therapists, and independent research, NEDA has opened the minds of family members, friends, co-workers, and the media while shaking our culture’s unrealistic ideal of beauty to its core,” Emme said.

With the conviction that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, Emme has advocated for female empowerment and body positivity throughout her 30 year career, including stints as Spokesmodel for Revlon, Clairol and Colorstay. She was the first model to be invited to speak before a Congressional subcommittee in Washington, D.C., where she raised awareness of eating and body image disorders. A cancer survivor, she walked at New York Fashion Week for the first time in 28 years in 2017, and  at numerous seasons since.  Emme is the founder of Fashion Without Limits: Changing the Face of Fashion, an initiative, in its 6th year at Syracuse University School of Design, teaching future fashion designers inclusive fashion design for all women of all sizes throughout their 4 years at design school. You can find Emme @supermodelemme.

NEDA Ambassadors are changemakers and advocates who use their personal experiences and platforms to raise awareness of eating disorders, combat diet culture and promote body acceptance. Emme joins other talented ambassadors like LGBT brawn model Ryan Sheldon, model Iskra Lawrence and social media influencer Gina Susanna.

“Emme is more than a model and a TV personality, she’s a survivor,” said Kristen Snow, NEDA’s Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships. “The passion she brings to everything she does is an inspiration to us, and we’re excited to work with her to send a clear message that all bodies are are worthwhile.”
