Military Night Eater

I have no trouble falling asleep, it is staying asleep. I wake up every couple of hours, go to the bathroom and cannot fall back asleep unless I eat something. Then when I have to get up for work (military) I am tired so all day long it is coffee and energy drinks to keep up (I know this has to be a contributing factor). Then the cycle repeats itself. I am falling apart here. Any advice?

I don't know if this is

I don't know if this is helpful but when I had insomnia I had to go to the doctor and go an some medication to help me sleep. I got past the insomnia and don't have to take the meds anymore. But it was helpful at the time.

Hi, shifter3!

I definitely agree that drinking coffee and energy drinks throughout the day could be a contributing factor. Perhaps you could ask your doctor or do some reading online to find out how early in the day it's recommended to stop consuming caffeine and see if following that recommendation helps.

If you're concerned about an eating disorder (such as Other Specified Eating Disorder--Night Eating Syndrome) or a sleep disorder of some kind, I would also try talking to your doctor to see if they have any recommendations or if there's a way to look into this further. It also could be related to stress; it's amazing how much overall stress can affect your health!

Since I'm not a medical professional, and I don't have all of the details about your daily routine, I can't give you a diagnosis or any more specific recommendations. However, a doctor can!

I hope this helps! Please keep us updated! I hope you're able to get better sleep soon!
