Late/skipped period and insomnia.

I haven't had my period in about 50 days now, which is more than a little late. I had been getting my periods again for a while, but each one seemed more inconsistent time-wise...40+ days apart...but this is getting a bit worse. I think newness is my trigger. I recently moved states for graduate school, and I think I felt I had to overcompensate for the unknowns through more diet/exercise. Anyhow, I am assuming the insomnia is related to a little weight loss or skipped period? I have been waking up 3-6 times a night and can't sleep until six anymore. I think, if I could get one night's sleep, I would feel less paranoid and anxious. Does anyone else have this problem? It was easier when I slept too much; insomnia is the worst part of this.

Hey Shaina28!

First of all, I'm proud of you for trying to dig down deep and recognize the possible cause of your diet/exercise behaviors! I haven't personally experienced insomnia from weight loss or missed periods, and I'm not a medical professional, but that could be why. My guess, however, is that the excitement and nervousness of moving to a new place and starting graduate school might be keeping you from getting a good night's sleep. Once things become a little more routine, this might ease the anxiety and better sleep will come. :) Congratulations on graduate school, by the way!
