introducing myself

Since I'm new on here I thought I'd just post a quick introduction. I'm hear because I have been struggling with anorexia on and off for a couple decades. I finally got into an actual treatment program this spring but my time for the discount has run out and I'm still fighting with the insurance company to fund treatment. At least I have my new PCP who has a lot of patients from the program I'm in and specializes in treating patients with an eating disorder so at least I am not in complete limbo.

Outside of the eating disorder I am 38 and even though I don't have any children of my own I have two nephews and a niece that I help with. I like taking walks, swimming, knifty knitter, writing, drawing even though I'm not very good at it, and coloring. I am glad I found this forum and look forward to getting to know all of you.

Hey Marcia,

Hey Marcia,
Welcome to the forum and thank you so much for introducing yourself. That's actually a really awesome idea--I'm bummed I haven't thought of that before! I've been in full recovery for six years but some days are still tough. I'm 31 and no kids but I also like walks, swimming, writing and coloring. Coloring is so theraputic, isn't it??

I think it's wonderful that you finally got into an actual treatment program and I'm so upset/sad/frustrated about the insurance struggle. Probably most of us on the forum have gone through this at some point during recovery.

I just read another post about a similar insurance issue and noticed a NEDA resource on the topic. http://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/insurance-resources

Maybe it can provide you with some guidance, or maybe you could try calling the NEDA helpline at 800-931-2237 and see if they have any additional info for you.

I'm really glad you found this forum too and I look forward to us supporting one another :)
