I want to help my 35 yo daughter with bulimia and diabetes

My daughter has had insulin diabetes for 21 years and now has been diagnosed with bulimia. I want to support her and help her anger issues and anxiety issues with self image and food. Any ideas?

Hi jmj53,

First of all, welcome to the forums! Coming here looking for advice is a big step, and I hope you find the answers and support you're looking for. I can definitely relate to what you're going through right now because I too was the supporter of someone who struggled with an ED. It can be very difficult at times, but asking for help is a great first step to take. I'm not a professional, but I think a good next step to take would be seeking professional help for your daughter. You can call the NEDA Helpline at 1-800-931-2237 (M-R 9-9, F 9-5 EST) for help finding resources in your area, from ED specialists to support groups to nutritionists. NEDA also has other great resources you can check out, including the Parental Toolkit and NEDA Navigators, which you can find here:

It's clear that you love your daughter very much, and she's lucky to have a supporter like you in her circle. It's amazing that you want to help and I definitely recommend utilizing NEDA's resources, but please keep in mind that you have to take care of yourself too. Don't hesitate to come on here to express how you're feeling, or even to seek help for yourself if you feel you need it.

I hope this has helped! Please keep us updated!!
