I can't even get a day right

Why is it that I can't even get one day without ed behaviors. I feel miserable this way yet I continue to do it. The only thing I can think of is that I still want to get down a certain number of pounds. I feel like once I get there I will stop and start eating right again. What ever that is.

I'm looking for a nutritionist who takes my insurance. I live outside the Reno area of nv. What about you?

I'm sure you have already

I'm sure you have already checked on this but do you know if your local hospital's behavioral health has a team that already includes a nutritionist for you in addition to a counselor?

You are contemplating and

You are contemplating and asking yourself good questions. This may be straight forward, but I can tell you from experience, you will never be satisfied by a number on the scale - even if you have a number in your head, your ED won’t go away when you reach it. The ED twists and distorts your thoughts and no number will ever be good enough for it. That’s what it does. It controls you. It tells you you’re not good enough. And it will keep telling you that until you choose to decide that you are ready to stand up to it. I want you to know there is hope. You can recover. The process is hard, but so worth it. If you are considering recovery, there are so many resources to help get you started. You mentioned looking for a nutritionist in your area and that’s a great start. The NEDA Helpline can help point you in the right direction of whom to contact in your area. You can call them Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (EST) at 1-800-931-2237. Sometimes a therapist and nutritionist together make a great team to help you in your process of recovery. Regardless of where you are in the process, know that you are strong and beautiful!

I totally understand your

I totally understand your situation…I live in a remote area of the country where there aren't many people who deal with eating disorders. I struggled to find someone, and finally found a psychiatric nurse practitioner who agreed to take me on. She's not an eating disorder specialist, but provides support and is quite helpful.

NEDA is here to support you during the evolving COVID-19 outbreak. The health of our community, especially those who are most vulnerable to the virus' serious complications, remains paramount. To access resources that can provide free and low-cost support, please click here.
