A Special Message from Our Supporters

NEDA Staff

Over the past 15 years, we’ve helped people across the country fight eating disorders and find resources for proper education and treatment. Now, read about how NEDA changed these five supporters’ lives for the better.

NEDA has grown tremendously throughout the past 15 years, and it’s all thanks to supporters like you!

NEDA was there for me when I was feeling completely lost and alone. I remember my first visit to the site, wondering if I would ever get better. I was connected to an eating disorders specialist in my area, and have been in recovery for over a decade. Now I'm an ambassador, a body image activist, and proud to point people to NEDA whenever they are looking for help and resources.” —Lynn Chen

“NEDA, thanks for helping me file for divorce! When I was trapped in my treacherous marriage to Ed, you pointed me in the direction of expert ‘attorneys.’ Clinicians like Ovidio Bermudez, M.D., made all of the difference.” —Jenni Schaefer

“When I first discovered NEDA, I was struggling with an eating disorder that I wouldn't even admit I had. From that point onward, NEDA was there for me every step of the way, including helping identify doctors in my area and giving me hope that I can get better. As I grew in my recovery, NEDA gave me a venue and outlet to share my story through their website and events, and truly allowed me to identify my voice. I'm proud of all the work NEDA has done, and am truly lucky to be a part of it; I can't wait to see what they are able to accomplish in the future!” —Justin Shamoun

“NEDA is a beacon in the dark, twisted world of eating disorders for anyone seeking information, promise, help, and hope. I have said this many times and will continue to do so. While others were passionately helping my daughter to save her life, NEDA saved mine. I could not have survived this tsunami without the depth and breadth of NEDA. Thank you for all time.” —Robbie Munn

I am forever grateful to NEDA for creating a home where sufferers could find their voice and comfort, where professionals could find resources for their patients, and where families and friends could speak openly and get support. Fifteen years ago, several regional organizations came together to form the National Eating Disorders Association. It was our vision to have a national force that could bring awareness to the epidemic of eating disorders and provide resources for treatment and move toward prevention. I am so proud of what NEDA has become and look forward to continued progress toward the prevention and elimination of eating disorders. Kudos to all who have made this happen and I continue to be behind you 100 percent going forward.” —Sondra Kronberg, MS, RD, CDN, CEDRD
