Who should be a NEDA Walk Coordinator?
You! Anyone with an interest in raising awareness and funds to help support NEDA can organize a NEDA Walk. It can be as simple as picking a route and asking your friends, acquaintances, co-workers and family to get pledges, invite their friends, and show up to walk.
I’ve never organized a walk-a-thon before. How do I do it?
Fill out the NEDA Walk registration form (only $15 to register). NEDA will send you the NEDA Walk Handbook, which provides instructions, suggestions and resources to help you at every stage of the Walk planning and day of your Walk activities. NEDA supports you by giving you access to the NEDA Walk Google Group, and NEDA Walk Google Documents Account containing all the tools you need to customize your Walk, a discussion board and we even organize conference calls to address your questions and support your efforts! Get a few friends together to help out and have fun!

I’m not coordinating a Walk but I want to volunteer to help a coordinator or register to walk in a NEDA walk near me. How do I get involved?
Check the list of registered NEDA Walks on the NEDA Walk page and look for your city. Select the appropriate Walk and open the link to the registration form.
Steps to becoming a NEDA Walk Coordinator
- Fill out the NEDA Walk Registration Form and wait for your NEDA Walk Handbook from NEDA.
- You will receive access to a NEDA Walk Google Group and Google Docs. Account, where you can download important documents and other resources found in the appendices of the NEDA Walk Handbook.
- Notify the Development Department (lkeeton@myneda.org) of your event details, when available. NEDA will then create a webpage for your walk, where walkers can register online and create their own personal fundraising pages.
- Fax proof of $250 in pledges, or raise at least $250 through your online registration. Note that this is not money required up front, but proof of, or commitment to, receive a minimum of $250 in donations for your walk. You will receive the remainder of the NEDA Walk Kit materials upon proof of $250 in pledges or $250 donations received online.
- Use the NEDA Walk Handbook for instructions on handling money, individualizing marketing materials for your local Walk, and the logistics of organizing your NEDA Walk.
