Samy Salon Systems Joins NEDA to Combat Eating Disorders
May 22, 2007 — With a shared passion for promoting a healthy body image, Samy Salon Systems (http://www.samysalon.com) has joined NEDA as its newest corporate partner and Samy, the spirit behind the brand, as a corporate ambassador.
This global hair care products company will work closely with NEDA this year to generate awareness of eating disorders and aid in its efforts to serve individuals and families touched by these illnesses. The Samy hair care brands are sold in more than 35,000 retail drug, mass and food stores in the U.S., as well as in the newly opened Samy Salon Beauty Lounge in Miami Beach and over 12 countries internationally.
“I want women to look and feel fresh and beautiful on the outside as they do inside,” said Samy, the internationally known hairstylist and founder of the company. “Eating disorders are all too prevalent among women. We need to do what we can to ensure that women recognize and celebrate their natural beauty, and not try to attain a body image that isn’t uniquely their own.”
As a Silver Sustaining Sponsor, Samy Salon Systems will help to promote NEDA on the company’s website, in advertising, through product proceeds donations, and at public appearances and special events throughout the year. Samy will also be visible at the NEDA national conference in San Diego this October, during National Eating Disorder Awareness Week in February 2008, and throughout the year at NEDA events.
The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), headquartered in Seattle, Wash., is a not-for-profit organization advocating prevention, treatment and research funding for eating disorders; expanding public education and awareness; promoting access to quality treatment for those affected; and providing support for their loved ones. Since the inception of its Helpline in 1999, NEDA has referred more than 50,000 people to treatment and tallies more than 40 million hits annually on its Web site.
